Winners of the second edition of the Apple Music Awards

It may seem innocuous, but the reality is that Apple is taking advantage of the entire Music ecosystem (including subscription, Shazam, radio stations, etc.) that it has to detect stars that are going to be big in the following months. Suffice it to remember that last year’s award went to Billie Eilish, and throughout the year she became a global sensation. But by then Apple already had an ad with her music, had commissioned a documentary, and had associated her image with this emerging artist.

But this is interesting to see who Apple thinks will be in the news next year.

New hip-hop star Lil Baby has been the winner in the category “Global Artist of the Year” by the Apple Music editorial team. The artist has millions of broadcasts with his album “My Turn,” says Apple in a Press release.

Megan Thee Stallion, whose collaborations with Cardi B and Beyonce have amassed over 300 million views worldwide, has won the “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” category, while Taylor Swift has won the “Songwriter of the Year” category. Both awards are awarded by Apple Music publishers.

Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” takes “Best Song of the Year” with 460 million views on Apple Music. Ricch’s album “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” has won the “Best Album of the Year” award.

Apple will host a week of Apple Music Awards celebrations starting December 14 that includes special performances, fan events, interviews and more. Apple will broadcast the events through Apple Music, Apple Music TV, and through the Apple TV app.

Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch have received the physical award which is a silicon wafer suspended in a glass plate and an aluminum body.
