Visual innovations for a better user experience
Microsoft promised job candidates in the original version of the job ad collaboration on major innovations in the in-house operating system. Together with the Surface division and OEM partners, it is about nothing less than a far-reaching modernization and rejuvenation of the user interface. The aim of the new design is to suggest to users: “Windows is back!” Users should perceive Windows as the operating system with the best user experience.
After the somewhat grandiose formulations for a Microsoft job advertisement were made public and distributed via social networks, the company removed the corresponding text passages. The updated version is still available.
Fluent Design System implemented consistently
The upcoming UI changes for Windows are no longer a secret. Microsoft announced a renovation of the user interface years ago as part of the Fluent Design System, but many UI elements are still inconsistent and not very uniform. Various users criticize the company’s lack of consistency in implementation.
A few months ago, reports of UI modernizations under the code name “Sun Valley” raised new hopes. In particular, Microsoft wants to visually modernize the start menu, Explorer and its own apps. This includes new ones, for example Slider, Buttons and other control elements. In addition, the tablet mode is to be optimized for Surface devices. Microsoft wants to implement most of the targeted innovations according to reports by the end of 2021.
