These are the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers: decline for Apple, massive plus for Xiaomi

Around 336 million smartphones were sold in the third quarter of 2020. At least this is what the market research specialist’s calculations say Gardener. Since Apple and various other manufacturers do not break down exact numbers, Gartner has to rely on estimates. Overall, the industry fared significantly worse than a year ago, when almost 399 million devices found their way to customers. The decline of 5.7 percent was mainly caused by the poor performance of “Others” and Huawei. The biggest winner, however, is Xiaomi, because a solid increase of 34.9 percent meant that Apple could be overtaken in the global market.
