Xiaomi bet on a future totally without cables, and is that wireless chargers take more presence in the current market. However, the technology products company goes further, and it is that it presented its new purely wireless charging system called Mi Air Charge that, using radio waves, can charge several devices at the same time without having to connect them anywhere.
Xiaomi and its new wireless charging system: Mi Air Charge
Xiaomi recently announced its new Mi Air Charge technology, it is a new system that uses radio waves to charge several devices at the same time without having to connect them by cable. This device is a base station with antennas that transmit a charging signal to compatible devices.
The company explains that the core of this technology is based on spatial positioning and power transmission. My Air Charge is a charging station that has five phase interference antennas that detect the location of the devices. Once the location is detected, 144 antennas transmit millimeter waves directly to the device by beamforming with a beacon antenna.
On the other hand, Xiaomi indicated that a smartphone with a receiving antenna can connect to the charging point within a radius of several meters, although the distance at which it should be is not yet clear. In addition, the company reported that users will be able to move around the room while using their device without interrupting the battery charge.
Xiaomi hopes to be able to use the Mi Air Charge with devices such as smart watches, portable speakers, smartphones, tablets and more. However, it should be noted that these must be compatible with wireless charging technology.
Although Mi Air Charge has a 5W charging power for each device, it will undoubtedly bring several benefits. The goal of the company is to make a leap in the market and that all devices do not depend on a cable to charge.
Will companies say goodbye to cable charging?
For a few months we have heard that companies such as Apple and Samsung announced that their new smartphones will no longer include the charger in their packaging. The reason is that eliminating these elements reduces both carbon dioxide emissions and the mining of materials used in these products. That’s why it’s not uncommon for us to start hearing more about wireless charging technology.
While Xiaomi recently announced Mi Air Charge, it’s not the first time we’ve heard of wireless charging. Motorola also shared a video where it shows its wireless charging technology and appears to be less complex than that of the Chinese brand.
The wireless charging system of Motorola It is a charging device that is placed on the table with the smartphone in a straight line to it, no more than one meter away. It should be noted that it is not known exactly how it works, nor its charging power or if we will be able to use the device while we wait for it to reach 100 percent charge. However, it appears that it will allow multiple devices to be charged at the same time.
But what about Apple? A while ago it was rumored that Apple partnered with Energous, a leading company in power and wireless charging, but these disappeared and never materialized. So far there is no news or anything has been leaked about Apple starting to use remote wireless charging technology.
It is expected that in the future, Apple will finally implement wireless charging technology on its iPhone and / or iPads. The Cupertino company is expected to start using this type of technology as soon as possible, since, as we mentioned before, it has already completely moved away from cargo ports.
