Safari is upgraded
Safari has received new functions with macOS Big Sur: The data protection report shows the trackers of a website and the start screen has been expanded to include some customization options. The respective sections can be moved freely – macOS 11.2 only allows you to deactivate them individually. According to 9to5Mac allows developers to provide extensions for the home page. Speech recognition can also be integrated directly into the website via the Web Speech API.
Improvements for iOS and iPadOS apps
iOS and iPadOS apps can also be run on the Mac – assuming a current device with Apple Silicon. A new system setting allows users to define configuration options for keyboard commands that act as alternatives to touch inputs. iPad applications are also displayed in a larger window.
There is also good news for owners of the latest generation of game consoles: Sony’s DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X | S controller are compatible with macOS 11.3. Reminders can be sorted according to various criteria and moved manually. In addition, these can be printed out directly via the app for the first time. The music application now clearly highlights live events and provides new playlists called “City Charts”.
