LG could be helping Apple create a foldable iPhone

The report, which cites industry sources, says the company is working on a prototype with Apple. However, what is unclear is whether LG would mass-manufacture the displays for Apple if that product did make it to market.

In recent years, foldable smartphones have been widely explored throughout the industry. Samsung rushed to introduce the Galaxy Fold in 2019. However, the device was plagued with problems and Samsung ended canceling the device’s original release date of April 26. Said phone was finally launched in September 2019.

Despite that unfavorable and half-done start, folding has come a long way in a short amount of time. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 it’s much better over its predecessor, offering an impressive 7.6-inch nearly square screen when unfolded, and most of the first-gen model’s problems were resolved.

Then there is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, the LG Wing Dual Screen and the LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen which is considerably cheaper. Each offers a slightly different twist on the folding format, but with defined compelling aspects for each model.

Apple is excited about folding phones

Manzana, like the rest, is also interested in folding. As with the phablet, which was around for a few years before Apple adopted it with the best-selling iPhone 6.

However, it has patented concepts related to folding batteries and one folding screen without wrinkles. A report from December suggested that Apple is testing two folding phone designs. A more recent report said that Apple is particularly interested in the foldable phone format, however this one could come until 2023 or even later.

Apple, as is its custom, has the luxury of being able to play with the deadlines in its new projects, in this case it is with folding phones. The first phablet phones, which combined phone and tablet, began to appear in the late 2000s. The iPhone 6 debuted until 2014. Similarly, it took a while to launch a smartwatch.

Thus, in both cases, there were experts who claimed that the company had lost its way. What happened? The Apple watch became a great success, and the iPhone 6 is still the series of iPhone best seller of all time.

For those of Cupertino there is no rush to bring a folding phone to market. But rumors like this suggest that they are already working on it.
