Those interested in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini had to be patient until November – but the delivery situation is still difficult. At the last quarterly conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the delivery situation will only improve slowly.
iPhone 13 back to normal
The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is very well known in the Apple world, claims to have learned that Apple intends to announce and publish the “iPhone 13”, which will be released next year, at the regular date. Accordingly, Apple will announce and deliver the iPhone 13 in September 2021 – not just in October or November. The late announcement and the delivery difficulties have major consequences for Apple: Many iPhones are given away for Christmas – if Apple cannot deliver, other gifts end up under the Christmas tree.
According to Kuo, the demand for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max has turned out to be higher than expected – and mainly the camera module, which is supplied by Sony, is responsible for the current delivery situation.
TSMC will cut production in the second quarter of 2021
TSMC has announced that it will cut production of the Apple A14 in the second quarter of 2021. Apple is currently using this processor in the entire iPhone 12 lineup as well as in the fourth generation iPad Air. But according to Kuo, this is completely normal, as demand usually decreases in spring and TSMC is preparing to manufacture the next generation.
