Again four models, same edge design
According to the report, Apple should keep all four models of the iPhone 12. This means that Apple will probably also introduce an iPhone 13 mini – despite disappointing sales of the iPhone 12 mini. All devices should have the same edge design as the current models – Apple is not planning any changes here. Apple will also keep the screen sizes, according to MacOtakara.
The length and width of the new devices should remain the same – but according to the report, the iPhone 13 will be 0.26 mm thicker. It is unclear which model this information refers to. Apple may increase the thickness of the iPhone 13 mini in order to increase the battery: Many users and testers were disappointed with the battery life, especially when compared to the other iPhone 12 models.
According to MacOtakara, Apple is also planning a change in the design of the camera: the protruding camera will remain, but Apple wants to cover the entire module with sapphire glass instead of the individual camera eyes. The camera module should look more like a single camera instead of three.
Apple currently only offers optical image stabilization with sensor shifting for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. According to MacOtakara, the iPhone 13 Pro will have the same camera module as the 13 Pro Max. It is therefore to be expected that optical image stabilization will also be available on the iPhone 13 Pro.
Since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017, some users have found the notch in the screen, which contains the Face ID sensors, to be annoying. With the iPhone 13, however, Apple is to reduce the notch by repositioning the TruDepth camera. It is still unknown to what extent Apple is shrinking the notch.
