iOS 14.2 dramatically reduces the battery life of Apple devices

Recently Manzana released its new version of the operating system for iPhone, it is the iOS version 14.2. After weeks of waiting, the software is now available for free download and installation. However, users of the Apple developer forums Y Reddit have reported that this upgrade quickly reduces battery charge, among other problems.

iOS 14.2: problems with the autonomy and battery charge

Apple recently released its new version of the operating system for all iPhone users, it is iOS 14.2. However, several users of the Apple developer forum and Reddit have reported that the battery life of the device was drastically reduced, among other problems.

iOS 14.2

The first problem that iOS version 14.2 presents is the rapid drain on the battery. As reported by users, their devices lose more than 50 percent of their charge in less than 30 minutes while seeing drops of around five percent in minutes with normal use. On the other hand, they have also noticed that the loading times became longer than usual.

Apparently these two problems would be related to the new Apple software upgrade. Users have reported that for a long period of time they see a high percentage of battery before falling. On the other hand, they commented that when they restart the device, they see a sudden increase in the battery percentage.

What are the affected devices?

The iPhones that are apparently being affected appear to be slightly older, such as the iPhone XS, iPhone 7, iPhone 6S, and first-generation iPhone SE. However, it seems that this version not only affects Apple smartphones, but the 2018 iPad Pro with the iPadOS 14.2 operating system also seems to be affected.

iOS 14.2

The version of iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 arrived just two weeks after iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1. The update included new emojis, intercoms, optimized battery charging for AirPods, people detection, and new wallpapers.

For now, there are no new reports that suggest that the problem related to the autonomy and battery charge has been solved with the update to iOS 14.2.1. This also promised to fix the errors with the MMS messages and the problem with the response of the iPhone 12 mini screen.

iOS 15

On the other hand, it is known that the version of Apple’s operating system for iPhone and iPad is being worked on, it is about the iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 betas. They have already been released, so it is possible that Apple may include the solution to the problem with charging and autonomy in this update, in addition to including support for Apple ProRAW, as well as improvements for the home, health and climate.

So for now if you haven’t updated your device to iOS 14.2, it’s best to postpone it until Apple fixes the problem. If, on the other hand, you are already presenting them, you must wait for the launch of the new upgrade.
