New: contact diary
If you scroll all the way down on the start screen of the Corona Warning app, you will find a new menu item there: The contact diary should act as a memory aid for the last 14 days. This allows users to add people who were close to the user for every single day. It is also possible to enter the location of an encounter – in this way it is easy to trace when the user had contact with other people and where this took place. The use of the diary is voluntary, and apart from the user, no one has access to the information stored there. The Robert Koch Institute also asks that the privacy of those persons who are entered in the diary be respected. Companies are not allowed to request this data.
Transmission of the data via email
The fields can be provided with any text, once entered places and people are available in a list for future days. All data can also be edited and deleted subsequently – the app also automatically removes information that is 16 days old. There is also the option of sharing such details with the health department or other institutions and persons – for example, by sending the data by e-mail. However, further details on the contacts cannot be added to the contact diary: For example, no addresses, telephone numbers or further information can be entered. Some users report that their iPhone has not yet downloaded the update. In these cases it usually helps to call up the application in the App Store and trigger it manually.
