Apple adds new features in iMovie and GarageBand through an update for iOS. In this upgrade it adds interesting new features, in the case of iMovie we will now have the possibility to view and edit content in HDR on the iPhone 12 and in GarageBand, times and improvements are added to the sound gallery.
iMovie: Apple Adds HDR Video Support on iPhone 12
In updating iMovie, Apple has focused on improving the formats in which we can work with the application, including compatibility with HDR videos on iPhone 12. Among the functions that come in this upgrade we can find a large number of new features such as: customization options of titles, movie backgrounds and a slider that allows users to adjust the intensity in the filters.
On the other hand, also in iMovie we will now have the possibility to change the font style, size and location. In addition, three new animated titles are added: Slide, Split and Chromatic in two colors … and many more options available in the upgrade notes.
Another of the most important novelties of the iMovie upgrade is about 4K videos compatibility, which we can import and share at 60fps. Of course, it will be necessary to have the following devices: iPod Touch (7th generation), iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 7, iPad (6th generation), iPad Mini (5th generation), iPad Air 3 or iPad Pro (10, 5 inches) or later. The same happens with the option to edit and share videos in HDR, we will have to have an iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X or later, iPad mini (5th generation), iPad (7th generation) or later, iPad Air 3 or iPad Pro 10.5-inch or later.
Finally, Apple has also added the option to view, edit and share HDR clips from a user’s photo library, among other new features for the iPhone 12. Just touch the button located at the top of the sheet to share a project or video file and choose the properties they include. resolution, frame rate and HDR.
GarageBand: Quickly start audio recordings
Another novelty that Apple brings us is also the update of the app GarageBand where it adds new features. Among the novelties that we can find is the option to quickly start audio recordings from the home screen by pressing and holding the application icon.
On the other hand, this upgrade adds a new sound package called “Collection of keyboards” with more than 150 loops to use on the tracks and an update to set the maximum length of the song from 23 to 72 minutes. In addition, now users can also switch between units of musical time (bars and beats) and absolute time (minutes and seconds).
So much iMovie as GarageBand they can be downloaded for free from the App Store. On the other hand, to update to the latest version and be able to have the new features, you must have iOS 14 or later.
