A few weeks ago, the guys at Apple Music announced thewinners of the second edition of the Apple Music Awards, but unlike the previous year, no face-to-face event was held to carry out the awards ceremony as if it happened during the first edition held last year at the Steve Jobs Theater.
The Apple Music Awards recognize 5 categories: Best Artist of the year, Best Composer of the year, Newcomer Artist, Best Song of the year and Best Album of the year and the winners chosen by Apple Music editors based on both the reproductions and the popularity they have achieved throughout the year.
The 2020 Apple Music Award winners are:
- Best Artist of the Year: Lil Baby
- Best Composer of the Year:Taylor Swift
- Revelation artist: Megan Thee Stallion.
- Best Song of the Year: “The Box” by Roddy Ricch.
- Best Album of the Year: “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” also by Roddy Ricch.
As there was no face-to-face event, Apple wanted to share your reactions with the fans of these singers after having obtained these awards and has posted 4 videos on the Apple Music channel on YouTube where they are given a short interview with their impressions of the award.
According to Apple:
The winners of Artist of the Year, Composer of the Year, and Breakthrough Artist of the Year were hand-selected by Apple Music’s global editorial team, comprised of world-class experts and tastemakers, and awards for Best Song of the Year and Best Song of the Year. Best Album of the Year are based on streaming data that reflects what Apple Music subscribers have been listening to this year.
Apple Music has the highest number of subscribers in the United States, hence the songs that have been awarded during this edition have not been the most popular in the worldbut only in America, except for Taylor Swift.
