Sarah Herrlinger, Senior Director of Global Accessibility Policies and Initiatives, and Jeffrey Bigham, Director of Accessibility Research at AI / ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning), will participate in a discussion that seeks to shed light on the impact that artificial intelligence has in accessibility.
Herrlinger and Bigham will participate in Sight Tech Global, in which industry experts will speak about AI and related technologies as they relate to accessibility. Specifically, the conference addresses technologies that are designed to help people who are blind or visually impaired.
The inaugural conference, scheduled for December, is expected to become an annual event.
According TechCrunch, Herrlinger and Bigham “will talk about the latest accessibility technologies that Apple has incorporated and how the company encourages a culture of innovation, empowerment and inclusion.” The editor of the publication, Matthew Panzarino, will moderate the table.
Other speakers at Sight Tech Global include disability rights attorney Haben Girma, the head of accessibility at Verizon Media, Larry Goldberg, and executives from Amazon, Benetech, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Waymo.
The virtual conference is on December 2 and 3 and is free once registered.
