Apple has revealed that Adobe will release its first application for Apple Silicon Macs, Lightroom, next month. Photoshop and other major applications will be released early next year (2021).
During the event on November 10, Apple announced that Adobe will port its main apps to Apple Silicon, starting with Lightroom, its photography software. All current versions will continue to work, but the new ones will already take advantage of the M1 chip directly.
“Adobe is going to create universal versions of its apps, starting with Lightroom next month,” says Craig Federighi, “and the other major apps, including Photoshop, early next year.”
From past experience, those are Apple’s words, not Adobe’s. Adobe engagements have sometimes had different agendas than Apple would have liked.
We will have to wait and see if it is confirmed!
